A small break

Monday, July 7

Don't the weekends fly by too quickly? I know they do for us and I know they really do for Tyler when he is out of the hospital and enjoying his family and his own bed at home. This weekend he got to enjoy his family at home even though he didn't feel the best. Friday night turned out to be exciting at the Hanson home. They were grilling out and their grill caught on fire. They didn't have a hose so they ran to the neighbors. The neighbors thought they were yelling "girl on fire" and came running. They got the fire under control but they were thinking scary thoughts of "what if it explodes and the house catches on fire". It didn't and they have a funny story to tell now. Later the police came and made them stop setting off fireworks. I think a neighbor turned them in. It wasn't the best "4th" for Tyler especially since he was still nauseous and sick but a memorable one. Saturday the Sasse family left for Arizona.

Tyler was feeling better on Sunday, still a little nauseous but ate some. They are enjoying family time today since Charles is returning to Louisville tomorrow. Sarah is very concerned about Tyler's weight. He doesn't have an appetite. This may mean tomorrow when they return to the hosipital if his weight has dropped, he will have to have a feeding tube inserted. Tuesday he will be given the high dose of methotrexate again. Our prayer this week: Tyler can receive his treatment as an out patient. This means he could go to the hospital for the 4 hour doses of the medicine and then return home to sleep in his own bed. Sarah has learned how to administer the other med's he needs. Since Charles will be in Louisville, this will be so much easier for Sarah because of Elijah and Christian. It is hard to be without mommy for 3 days. They will repeat the procedure again on Wednesday and Thursday. Pray that Tyler's body will accept the chemo better this time with minimal side effects. We want him strong and hungry. Pray for spirits to be raised and encouragemnt will come their way.

I love the poem "Footprints". At times God is walking beside us but at our lowest and hardest times He is carrying us. Let God carry you through this! Rely on Him for your strength. We love and cherish you, Hanson family. Stay close!

Dear Tyler ~ One of your classmates invited me to participate in the upcoming walk for you. I'm delighted to help. I'm praying God's strength to be in you, son, as you let Him fight the battle ahead! My daughter, Becky, works at St. Jude. They are a marvelous family that will do everything they can to help you win the war against cancer! Be assured of His Power and His Presence! With love and prayers
