Pray for Tyler

Hi All!

Well the past 60 hours have been pretty rough. We showed up to the hospital on Tuesday to start chemo and we got delayed until Wednesday because someone forgot to order a blood test, that had to be done before chemo could start. So we waited around for 24 hours for nothing. Wednesday morning chemo was supposed to start around 8am. It was delayed until 11am because the pharmacy docs wanted the orders written with the current date on them and the orders from the day before were no longer valid. Tyler got two drugs on Wednesday. He got bevacizumab and high dose methotrexate. They were infused over 5 hours. 1 hour for the bevacizumab and 4 hours for the methotrexate. He was finished getting his chemo around 6pm. Tyler is taking the chemo pretty hard. We were told that most children tolerate these chemo drugs without side effects but Tyler seems to be in the minority and is throwing up again. He is doing a lot of sleeping, which is good. We were told our chances of getting out of the hospital on Friday so we could enjoy the 4th of July at home are slim.

So, all in all, we are pretty bummed. Please pray that God will heal Tyler's body and help him to tolerate the chemotherapy better. And pray for our spirits to be lifted. Pray that we will all remember to stay focused on the Lord and that with him we will have the strength to endure.

We love you all. Thank you for your support.

My name is Phyllis Goodwin. I am a friend of Dr. Bibba Holland who sent an email to some friends asking us to pray for Tyler some time back and I have been praying for you everyday since then and reading your blog to keep up with you. I wanted you to know that I think you can see the Memphis HUGE fireworks display from a window at St. Jude. Ask someone there. Maybe you'll get to see fireworks after all! My family became close friends with a little 2 yr. old at St. Jude about 18 years ago. They lived in Springfield, MO and this was before the Ronald McDonald and other houses were built so they stayed with us and we took her for her Chemo and radiation for a long time. She has now graduated from high school and is doing well. If there is anything we can do for you please let us know. My email address is phyllisgoodwin@gmail.com

Tyler,
I am so sad that you are having such a hard time with the chemo. I am so afraid of throwing up and your strength through this is admired by all of us. I am going to pray, pray , pray and pray some more for you. I wish you were here to celebrate the 4th with us. Although it will probably be raining! Please get some rest and always know that 1) WE LOVE YOU 2)GOD WILL SEE YOU THROUGH THIS 3)WE WILL ALWAYS BE HERE FOR YOU----

Je T'aime,
Catherine

Hi Tyler, My sister has gone through chemotherapy too and she had a very hard time with being nauseated and throwing up. Would it help you to keep something citrus-y around like lemon or orange slices? I know most of this cannot be controlled and you are probably taking anti-nausea medication but this might help ease your pain a bit. I will pray an extra prayer tonight not only for your healing but for your comfort too. Happy 4th of July...my boys will light a little sparkler for you! Blessings and Love, Kelley Scull (CAL Family)

Dear Tyler, I am very sorry to hear you are nauseous, and will pray that this passes for you. You are in our daily thoughts and prayers. I am so glad you got to leave the hospital for the July 4th weekend. I hope you got to see some fireworks. I rained here all day on the 4th so you didn't miss much.
