Week 4 Again

Tuesday, July 15

Tyler had a nice break from the hospital last week but has returned to start his week 4 med's. He arrived yesterday (Monday) at the hospital for typical blood draws and tests. He was well rested, stronger and his sores had healed. He hadn't lost any weight but he hadn't gained any either. They said he was ready for his next doses of chemo. He returned to the hospital today (Tuesday)at 10:00 for his 4 hour infusion of chemo (methotrexate). The bad thing about hospitals is they are never on schedule. Tyler received his chemo later than scheduled and had to remain at the hospital until 11:00 pm to be monitored. Methotrexate is a very powerful, dangerous drug. Tyler is given high doses of fluids to flush the poison out of his body as soon as it is administered. He is monitored closely. I talked to Sarah at 9:00 pm tonight and he was doing great. No signs of nausea and he was feeling good. They were excited to be going home in a couple of hours. An hour and a half later he had spiked a fever. This may prevent Tyler from going home tonight. Pray his body can repair itself quickly and he can go home. Pray also for Sarah as this is very difficult on her. She feels a huge weight on her shoulders. Pray for God to give her peace and help her to cope with all that she has to deal with. Pray for loving people to be put in her path to support and comfort her. Pray for Charles as he has to remain in Louisville to work. It is difficult for him to be apart from his family. He will return next week to Memphis because Tyler will have to remain in the hospital for high doses of chemo.

Let us give thanks to God in all circumstances. We know that sometimes we must go through valleys to get to the top of the mountain. We know you are in control, Lord, of this family and you have great plans for them.

Thanks for your loving support and prayers! Stay close! Kim

Hey Tyler!! I hope u got to go home last night it must be weird and uncomfortable to sleep at the hospital. There's nothing rly super exciting going on. Except for your run/walk thing. I didn't think I was going to get to go because I had soccer conditioning. But I decided not to play JVsoccer for the highschool. So I will get to go which I am pumped about!! Well I rly hope u dont get sick from this round of chemo. Stay strong! Im always praying for u and your family.!
